AP CM Urged to Print State, National Emblems on Ration Cards

Hyderabad: The Citizens’ Initiative secretary Duvvuri Subrahmanyam has urged Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to print the emblems of state and central governments on ration cards, NREGS cards, and Aarogyasri cards, instead of the CM’s photos.

Whenever the governments change, the photos are being changed and reprinted by spending crores of rupees through an avoidable wastage of money, he said in a letter to the CM on Tuesday.
He said that in view of the present financial difficulties for AP, the CM should avoid unnecessary expenses.
If the state and central emblems are printed, there will be no need to make reprints of the ration cards with every change of government or leader, he said.
The activist praised Chandrababu Naidu on the school bags issue. Though the photo of the former CM was printed on the school bags, Naidu asked the education department to distribute those school bags without changing the former CM’s photo.
He said the Aarogyasri Cards insurance amount has been enhanced to `25 lakh from `5 lakh, but the cards have not been distributed to the beneficiaries due to the election code. He requested the CM to distribute the cards as soon as possible.
