Vijayawada: DGP Harish Kumar Gupta warned that strict action would be taken against those who make threats on social media regarding vote counting and results.

The DGP said, “Some individuals are threatening others and creating unrest online.” Such individuals will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Cases will be registered against them under the IT Act, and severe actions like opening rowdy sheets and applying the PD Act will be taken, he said.
He also warned, “We will investigate who is encouraging such posts and will not spare them either.” Posting, sharing, or using such content as WhatsApp status is prohibited. Group admins have been advised not to encourage these activities. The police will maintain continuous surveillance on social media posts, he said.
Harish Kumar Gupta stated that Andhra Pradesh police implemented stringent measures on the counting day to prevent any violent incidents. Sections 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and 30 of the Police Act have been invoked and will remain effective until June 6. A large number of police forces, including central forces, has been deployed at counting centres, major intersections, and areas prone to violence.
Drones will play a significant role in the Palnadu district. Palnadu superintendent of police Malika Garg stated, "If anyone congregates in groups to instigate unrest in urban areas or problematic villages, they will be identified with the assistance of drones, and stringent legal action will be initiated against them.” The authorities also banned victory rallies and firecrackers before, during, and after the counting.
