Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has established a Group of Ministers (GoM) to oversee the assessment of flood damage and continuously monitor the flood situation. Special Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad issued an order on Monday appointing the GoM, which comprises the Ministers for Finance, Municipal Administration, Home, and Revenue. The Special Chief Secretary for Revenue and Disaster Management will serve as the GoM convenor. The committee is tasked with quickly providing recommendations to the government for prompt action.

Following unprecedented rainfall on August 30 and 31, which saw some areas receive rainfall far exceeding normal levels, including 30 cm in NTR district in under 48 hours, the region faced significant flooding. The Krishna River, Munneru, and Budameru channels were inundated, leading to loss of life, livestock, damage to homes, crops, and infrastructure, including both public and private assets. The GoM will develop a plan to address these issues and assess the damage.
