AP home minister assures latest equipment for police

Anantapur: Home Minister V. Anitha underlined that the state government is firm on strengthening the police department with the latest equipment, establishing cyber cells, and starting a forensic laboratory for scientifically investigating crimes and carrying out prosecutions.
“Accused in various crimes, including ganja smuggling, assault on women and children, and cyberattacks are posing various challenges. Cybercriminals are using technology to cheat their victims. Our police will be fully equipped to take stringent action against them,” the minister stated.
She asserted that police forces in the state are maintaining law and order and weeding out Naxals, factionists, and communal elements. She recalled that the previous government had failed to allot even Rs 9 crore as a grant for starting a Greyhounds centre in Amaravati with a total expenditure of Rs 200 crore.
Addressing those gathered at the Passing Out Parade of 12 DSPs trained at the AP Police Academy in Anantapur on Tuesday, Anitha underlined that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is firm on controlling crime, strengthening law and order and ensuring the welfare of police at all levels.
She appreciated that the majority of the graduating DSPs are women and engineering graduates. She expressed confidence that they will successfully deal with cybercrimes. She pointed out that each district has a cyber-cell to control online crimes and large-scale misuse of social media.
Speaking at the event, DGP D. Thirumala Rao called on the trained DSPs to serve society by ensuring law and order at every step, including preventing crimes against children and women.
AP Police Academy principal Venkatrami Reddy said the DSPs passing out will be on practical training at various police stations from November third week.
The home minister presented meritorious awards to all-round best performers Jeevana and Pradeepthi.
