VIJAYAWADA: Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha on Thursday warned that anyone abusing women on social media platforms will not be spared.

She underlined that even those who resort to abuse using fake social media accounts will be caught using advanced equipment and punished.

Anitha disclosed that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, they are bringing in a special law to bring to book those who misuse social media.

The minister accused former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of undermining women using bullies, goons and psychos under the guise of politics. She pointed out that Jagan did not respond even when abusive posts appeared on social media platforms targeting his own mother and sister.

Anitha made it clear that those who derive satanic pleasure by abusing women will be brought to book, regardless of their party, region, caste or religion. She advised Jagan to refrain from raising canards of peace and security deteriorating in AP, thereby undermining democracy.

The minister maintained that people have not forgotten the atrocities committed against women during the five-year rule of the YSRC president. She quoted a National Crime Report saying during Jagan’s rule, young women had been raped every eight hours, women assaulted every two hours and children abused every 10 hours.

She got emotional recalling how YSRC leaders targeted her with obscene posts while in power.

Anitha declared that crime rate has reduced by 28 per cent after the coalition government has taken office in Andhra Pradesh.
