AP Launches Exclusive Kreeda App for Sports

Vijayawada: In a first of its kind, the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) has designed an exclusive App for sports, Kreeda App.

Its release was done here on Thursday by sports minister Ramprasad Reddy, SAAP chairman Ravi Naidu, sports secretary Vinay Chand, archer Jyothi Surekha and sports association leaders. Ramprasad said the alliance government gave sports top priority in Andhra Pradesh.

The minister also unveiled the state's sports policy and said the government is committed to introducing new innovations in the sports sector by embracing modern technology. The new sports app was designed to provide comprehensive information related to sports associations, athletes and sporting events, he said.

Ramprasad said it was for the first time in the country that AP has introduced a comprehensive sports policy aimed at future generations. “It aims to encourage athletes and provide employment opportunities.”

He said, “The state is also taking steps to ensure national-level encouragement for athletes, with plans to host the National Sports Competition in Amaravati in 2027. The government has launched the sports app and policy within six months of its term.”

“The government is also focusing on integrating the education and sports departments to provide sports training to students at the elementary school level in rural areas. Nara Lokesh being the education minister, the sports sector would receive ample support,” he said.

“The government is also working towards eliminating fake certificates in sports by leveraging technology to implement significant reforms.”

SAAP chairman Ravi Naidu termed the introduction of the sports app a historic step and stressed that digital certificates for athletes marked the dawn of a new era.

He said the sports policy would help transform the state into a "Sports Andhra Pradesh." The app will help identify deserving athletes and prevent the use of fake certificates.”

Sports secretary Vinay Chand said the government's support for sports through the new app was a significant step forward. The app will benefit coaches and athletes alike, he said.

SAAP VC, PS Girisha, said the new sports policy will be a major boost to sports in the state. “The government’s announcement of Rs 7 crore in rewards for Telugu athletes winning medals at the Olympics is a great encouragement for sports.”
