 Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Samagra Shiksha SPD B. Srinivasa Rao receives the award from President Draupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Tuesday. has been honoured with the National Award for being the “Best State in Implementing the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act and Other Schemes for Persons with Disabilities.” The award was presented by President Draupadi Murmu to Samagra Shiksha state project director B. Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday in Delhi, marking the World Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The recognition, part of the ‘National Awards for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities 2024’ programme, was organised by the Ministry of social justice and empowerment. The department of school education and Samagra Shiksha, alongside the inclusive education division, were key contributors.

Human resources minister Nara Lokesh expressed pride in the achievement, commending Samagra Shiksha for providing equal educational opportunities to students with disabilities through digital education. He congratulated the officials involved, including B. Srinivasa Rao, who received the award.

Secretary of the department of school education Kona Sasidhar praised Samagra Shiksha for its leadership in offering quality education to students with disabilities, particularly through digital learning and internet tools.
