APICDA Board Approves 3 Industrial Corridors

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday chaired the first board meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Corridor Development Authority (APICDA) in Amaravati. At the meeting, he said the state government has taken pivotal steps for AP's industrial and economic growth trajectory.

The AP government constituted the APICD authority comprising a board and an executive committee. The board is chaired by the Chief Minister along with 12 other members comprising ministers of industries & commerce, finance and about six secretaries of major departments including infrastructure and revenue.

The first board meeting of the APICDA was held on Wednesday and after deliberations, the APICDA board agreed to notify three industrial corridors such as Chennai Bangalore Industrial Corridor (CBIC), Hyderabad Bangalore Industrial Corridor (HBIC) and Vizag Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC) and the nodes thereon viz, Krishnapatnam node (10,834.50 acres) under CBIC, Orvakal node (9,718.84 acres) under HBIC and Kopparthy node (6,740.44 acres) under VCIC.

Further, the APICDA board approved the final master plans of the Krishnapatnam node under CBIC and the Orvakal node under HBIC. Also, the board approved the publication of the draft master plan of the Kopparthy node being developed over an extent of 6,740.44 acre, under VCIC.

In a progressive step, the APICDA approved the proposal of the department to accord approval of industrial, residential and commercial layouts within these industrial master plans of three nodes by the authority under relevant provisions of the ACT. The chairman ordered the APICDA and MA&UD / DTCP to work together to bring the SOPs in this regard

Naidu stated that after the bifurcation of the state, the government of Andhra Pradesh envisioned forming an authority to notify industrial corridors and nodes along with approval of master plans. He further stated that in 2017, the needs to expedite the development of industrial clusters and external infrastructure under the VCIC with the financial assistance from Asian Development Bank (ADB) were felt.

Chandrababu said that accordingly, the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Corridor Development (APICD) Act was promulgated w.e.f from 10.10.2017 for the establishment, planning, development, operation, maintenance, management and regulation of industrial corridors in Andhra Pradesh.
