Visakhapatnam: Tribal welfare minister Gummadi Sandhyarani received a petition regarding the reservation for Adivasis in DSC-2024 teaching posts. A team of the Andhra Pradesh Joint Action Committee group led by Rama Rao Dora, the convener, met the minister and submitted a representation on this issue in the ASR district on Monday.

During the meeting, Dora demanded that teacher posts in the scheduled areas, which were announced in the DSC -2024, should be reserved exclusively for Adivasis. The DSC-2024 has a total of 16,000 teacher posts. He emphasised the need for issuing a special notification to ensure that these posts are filled by local Adivasis.

After the meeting, Dora highlighted that the minister had been appraised about the need for this special notification. Minister Sandhyarani agreed with the proposal, recognising the significance of reserving these posts for the Adivasi community. This initiative is viewed as a positive step towards addressing the employment needs of Adivasis in the scheduled areas, ensuring they have fair access to government job opportunities.
