Vijayawada: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured in the pharma firm blast at Atchutapuram.

In a message, the PM stated, “Pained by the loss of lives due to a mishap at a factory in Anakapalle. Condolences to those who lost their near and dear ones. May the injured recover soon.”

Health minister Satyakumar Yadav told the media here on Thursday that nearly 35 victims were undergoing medical treatment at several hospitals. The state government would provide all requisite help to the victims and their families, he reiterated.

The minister said the state government would take up a ‘Varadhi’ programme to accept petitions from the people to resolve their complaints, based on a call from state BJP chief D Purandeswari.

“We are receiving a lot of petitions on land and healthcare. We are making efforts to resolve them. Our plan is to develop the government hospitals in a big way," he said.
