BJP condemns Rahul’s remarks on Hindus, wants public apology

Union minister of state for steel Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma asked Rahul Gandhi to know the practices and conventions while addressing the MPs in Lok Sabha. He said even though Congress has suffered losses in three successive parliamentary elections, it has failed to learn lessons. He wanted the Congress allies in INDIA bloc to prevail upon Rahul Gandhi to withdraw his remarks and tender a public apology.

AP BJP chief and MP Daggubati Purandeswari recalled the LoP’s remarks on Monday that Hindus tell lies and resort to violence. She faulted Rahul Gandhi for making such remarks and hurting sentiments of all those who follow Hindu Dharma.

The MP wondered how the Congress leader could speak against Hindus when his party had imposed emergency in the country in 1975 and slaughtered Sikhs in thousands. She demanded that the Congress leader take back his words and tender a public apology.

In Tirupati, BJP state spokesperson Samanchi Srinivas characterised Gandhi's first speech as Leader of the Opposition as "filled with falsehoods, disappointment, and baseless claims." He condemned LoP’s portrayal of Hindus as "violent, hateful and dishonest."

Srinivas refuted Gandhi's claims about the Agniveer scheme, pointing to defence minister Rajnath Singh’s clarification that ₹1 crore assistance is being provided to martyrs' families.

The BJP state spokesperson said: "Rahul Gandhi is an expert in lying and running away. You cannot lie in the House; you have to prove your words.".
