Central Team Inspects Flood-Hit Areas in AP

Vijayawada:A Central committee led by home additional secretary Sanjeev Kumar Jindal assured to submit a report on the extent of loss caused due to heavy rains and floods to AP to help it get relief from the Centre in an expeditious manner.

The committee members inspected the flood hit areas and the kind of relief being extended to the affected people by travelling in a tractor and revenue special chief secretary R.P. Sisodia explained to them about the impact of floods and relief being provided to the affected people . They visited the damaged gates at Prakasam Barrage and collected details about the inflows in the Krishna river at the barrage and other details. They also inspected the breached portions to Budameru canal at Kondapalli Santhi Nagar-Kavuluru in Ibrahimpatnam of NTR district and took stock of the developments and the efforts made to bridge the breaches.

The committee held a review meeting with the concerned officials at the office of AP State Disaster Management Authority here on Thursday. Water resources principal secretary Sai Prasad and engineer-in-chief M. Venkateswara Rao explained to the committee members about the impact of heavy rainfall and floods in parts of AP and the relief provided to the affected persons.
