Central varsity starts 1-year Sanskrit course

Anantapur:A year-long ‘Dev Vani Sanskrit’ language for all’ course to encourage students and elders to learn the ancient language has been introduced by AP Central University, Anantapur.

Vice chancellor Prof Kori said the course is run at the Non-Formal Sanskrit Education Centre of the university by Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi.

All those above age 15, such as students, retired teachers, teachers, women, men, industrialists, advocates, engineers, journalists, social workers etc can learn the language easily, he said.

Students are taught simple Sanskrit conversation, Sanskrit reading, Sanskrit writing, Sanskrit alphabet teaching, Sanskrit pronunciation, verse reading, stotra reading, Sanskrit song singing, Sanskrit story reading, sports etc.

Classes will run an hour a day, thrice a week at the JNTU Road, Chinmaya Nagar campus of CU Anantapur and at the Bukkarayasamudram mandal campus of Janthaluru village.

The class time will be in the morning or evening. Classroom teaching materials and exercise books will be provided by the university. The fee is `1500. The course will be entirely offline.

After the course, an examination will be conducted online. Those who pass the exam will be given a certificate by the Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi.
