Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID) held a workshop on protection of Scheduled Castes and Schedule Tribes, chaired by district revenue officer D. Dayanidhi and circle inspector M. Seshu, in Anakapalli on Wednesday. It elaborated on the process of case registration and instances where compensation can be claimed.

The event, organised by additional DGP CID Ravi Shankar Ayyanar's team, brought together top police officials, legal experts, and community leaders. The listeners included college students, police personnel, and NGO representatives. This event is part of a broader initiative being conducted across all districts of the state.
"Understanding the legal framework of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 is crucial for ensuring justice," said additional SP (crimes) L. Mohan Rao.
The workshop concluded with an examination for participants on how well they understood the topics covered.
BC welfare superintendent A. Veera Babu emphasised the importance of such workshops in creating awareness and ensuring the effective implementation of protective legislation for marginalised communities.
