CM Naidu for CID inquiry into encroachments in Kakinada Port and SEZ
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Tuesday that a CID inquiry should be conducted into the encroachments in Kakinada Port and SEZ.
Naidu made these observations when he informally discussed various issues with the ministers after a cabinet meeting.
The illegalities in the export of PDS ration rice from Kakinada Port came up for discussion. Sources quoted Naidu as saying, “They (the YSRC government) forcibly grabbed Kakinada Port and Kakinada SEZ. They grabbed the port and gave 41 per cent to KV Rao and 59 per cent to Aurobindo.”
“Grabbing public assets has become a new trend in the state. We have never seen anything like this before. The YSRC government has badly damaged the systems. Let us conduct a CID inquiry into all this,” the CM told the ministers.
Naidu reminded the ministers that the state has a long coastline and the government should see how to utilize its potential. He expressed impatience over the delay in the utilization of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the state.
The Chief Minister criticised officials for not moving beyond the DPR stage of the JJM.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said, “Feelings in Delhi are that the state is not utilizing the JJM project properly. The Chief Minister said this was so due to bureaucratic delays.
Minister Lokesh said the Jal Jeevan scheme is a big project that should reach everyone. If it works in mission mode, the scheme will give wonderful results.
Naidu sought a comprehensive report on the performance of various departments in view of the present government’s completion of 6 months in office. It should state who did what.
The CM said the liquor, sand and ration mafias have been halted in their tracks. The PDS rice and land encroachment mafia are challenging the government and the activities of these mafia too will be stopped, he said.
