Vijayawada: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said he aimed at making AP in top position in the world in health, wealth and happiness.

Naidu was speaking at a special event organised at the Secretariat to mark the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Indian Constitution, which was adopted in 1949. He hailed the Constitution as the ‘largest’ in the world.

The chief minister garlanded the statue of the Father of the Constitution, BR Ambedkar, and paid rich tributes to him. He helped all the participants read out the Preamble of the Constitution.

He said Telugus should be on top in all sectors across the world. "I am confident of taking Andhra Pradesh to the ‘number one’ position in the country in per capita income. My goal is to take the state to the top position in wealth, health and happiness by 2047," he asserted.

Naidu said, “If evil forces come to power and violate the norms in the Constitution, people will teach them a fitting lesson through the weapon of vote. With the Telugu Desam-led alliance coming to power, the democratic values have been restored to life in the state.”

He said, “From the days of severe discriminations during the pre-Independence period, India is marching towards the goal of equality with the directions provided in the Constitution.”

"We have completed 75 years of adoption of the Indian Constitution which was enacted on November 29, 1949 and this is a sacred day which is very special for all of us," Naidu said.

The chief minister noted that the Indian Constitution is the longest written statute of any sovereign nation in the world. A 299-member drafting committee headed by Babasaheb Ambedkar struggled for two years and six months to draft this.
