Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu called Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory in the Delhi elections after 27 years "historic." He underlined that the slogan "People First" resonated well during the elections, with citizens of the national capital placing their trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing media here on Saturday, Chandrababu Naidu observed that Delhi’s residents believed in Narendra Modi’s strong and stable governance. “This historic victory highlights the nation’s commitment to effective leadership and rejection of corruption-driven governance. True development is achieved through a combination of economic growth and welfare policies,” he declared.

The Chief Minister maintained that governance must align itself with people’s aspirations. But the AAP government ignored public concerns, leading to the declining quality of life in Delhi, especially due to pollution and lack of infrastructure. Moreover, political corruption drove people away from the national capital.

“Recent election results, (including that in Delhi) indicate that voters chose leaders who prioritise stability, growth and efficient governance,” Naidu observed.

The Chief Minister went on to highlight how economic reforms have transformed India since 1991. He credited former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao for initiating reforms that positioned India as a competitive global economy. Naidu stated, “Comparing economic growth rates, Maharashtra’s GSDP has increased from $55 billion in 1995 to $490 billion in 2024. Gujarat rose from $24 billion to $370 billion in the same period. Andhra Pradesh will follow this trajectory to turn AP into the state with highest per capita income in the country by 2047.”

The AP CM appreciated PM Modi for rapidly developing India across sectors. He criticised politicians who misuse welfare schemes for corruption, saying voters are now rejecting such practices. Referring to governance failures in Andhra Pradesh and Delhi, he pointed out how ineffective leadership led to poor infrastructure, pollution and lack of essential services.

Outlining Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious economic vision, Chandrababu Naidu projected a $2.4 trillion economy with a per capita income of $42,000 by 2047. With a 15% growth rate, the state aims to lead the country in economic prosperity. He reiterated that strong leadership and sound policies are crucial for sustainable growth.

The Chief Minister criticised the reckless financial mismanagement of the YSRC government, which accumulated ₹10 lakh crore in debt. He felt such mis-governance destroyed opportunities for the people.

Chandrababu Naidu reaffirmed his commitment to good governance and development-driven policies. He asserted that Andhra Pradesh will emerge as a role model for economic growth and public welfare in the coming decades.
