Contractors Worried over Pending Bills in Pulivendula
Anantapur: Contractors in Pulivendula are worried over pending bills of PUDA (Pulivendula Urban Development Authority) vis-a-vis the massive developmental activities that were undertaken there in the past one year.
During a three-day-long visit to his home turf Pulivendula in Kadapa district, former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy received several representations from various sections including leaders who doubled as contractors and did works under the PUDA jurisdiction.
Jagan Mohan Reddy, while as CM, had attempted large-scale development of Pulivendula and its connecting areas under the Urban Development Authority. A special officer had been posted there to speed up the work there in the past four years.
Sources said works of about `700 crore were undertaken but bills were pending in various sectors. The contractors, including some leaders, took up works unofficially in the name of construction companies. Several contractors are worried over their pending bills as the new government might take its sweet time to clear these.
The contractors, including the municipal councillors of Pulivendula, met Jagan Mohan Reddy in Pulivendula on Sunday and lamented over their pending bills. They said they were already in debts after investing heavily on the PUDA works.
Several women councillors had reportedly represented Y.S. Bharathi to help them as they invested huge amounts for the works in the last six months.
Jagan Mohan Reddy promised the contractors that he would fight in all ways, even legally in court, to get such pending dues released. He urged these leaders to be patient for a few days.
Fake video from Bengaluru goes viral:
YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, after a three-day visit to Pulivendula, went to Bengaluru on Monday. YSRC cadres and his fans from Bengaluru had gathered at the residence of Jagan Mohan Reddy and shouted slogans praising their leader at the main gate. But, the video’s voice was mixed with slogans criticising the YSRC chief and this went viral on social media. It was apparently spread by rivals.
Party sources said the TD social media wing “created” the video with a view to maligning the image of former CM.
