Andhra Pradesh: Saluru Gets Cotton Procurement Centre
Visakhapatnam: The district agricultural marketing department has announced the establishment of a new cotton procurement centre at the Saluru market yard in the Parvathipuram Manyam district. The facility is set to begin operations within two days.
District Agricultural Marketing Officer I. Gangadhara Rao made this announcement on Tuesday in response to recent reports of declining cotton prices. "We are taking immediate action to address the concerns of cotton farmers. The new procurement centre at Saluru market yard will ensure farmers receive fair prices for their cotton," said Gangadhar. He cautioned farmers against dealing with unauthorised brokers who could exploit them.
The announcement comes as a relief to cotton growers in the district, who have been grappling with price fluctuations. The new centre is expected to stabilise the local cotton trade and eliminate the need for farmers to rely on intermediaries. The agricultural marketing officer has urged the cotton farmers in the district to utilise this procurement facility as it becomes operational.
