Government’s focus on fast-tracking key infrastructure projects

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad on Saturday conducted an extensive field inspection of ongoing works in Amaravati, underscoring the government’s focus on fast-tracking key infrastructure projects.

He was received by APCRDA commissioner V. Vijayaramaraju, ADC CMD D. Lakshmi Parthasarathy, AGICL MD S.V.R. Srinivas and other senior officials, who briefed him on the progress of major projects.

Sai Prasad first inspected the steel bridge being constructed across Buckingham Canal under Seed Access Road Phase-3. Officials said the bridge would provide an alternative link to Karakatta Road. He also reviewed progress of another steel bridge across Kondaveeti Vagu aimed at improving intra-city connectivity.

The Chief Secretary later visited LPS Zone-5D near Abbarajupalem, a land pooling scheme area being developed for allotment to farmers. Spread over 1,158.42 acres with an estimated cost of `470.42 crore, the zone is planned to accommodate 1,638 plots.

Officials said development works are being taken up in four blocks, including 37.10 km of internal roads, 34.01 km of sewerage network, 76.19 km of stormwater drains, 297.08 km of power and ICT network, and 78.30 km of reuse water network.

He also inspected the iconic towers project, including the under-construction GAD Tower, a proposed 50-storey building to house the Chief Minister’s Office and General Administration Department. Officials said four additional 40-storey towers for Heads of Departments are being developed at an estimated cost of `4,820 crore.

The visit concluded with a review meeting at the APCRDA office attended by senior officials.
