Vijayawada: Raparla Jagannatham of A. Muppalla village in Vinukonda of Palnadu district appealed to education minister Nara Lokesh to provide a permanent drinking water facility for Muppalla, where Mahatma Gandhi stayed for three days as part of his Salt Satyagraha movement.

Jagannatham, speaking at the Praja Darbar organised at the residence of Lokesh in Undavalli on Wednesday, went on to suggest that water should be provided to such a historic village through a pipeline from Nagarjuna Sagar Canal.
Many other people from Mangalagiri, the constituency of minister Lokesh, as well as from throughout the state, made their requests at the darbar.

Lokesh asserted that AP now has the people's government. He will not remain behind closed doors like the previous (YSRC) government’s ministers did. “We will stand by everyone who is in trouble,” he assured.

Farmers of Kunchanapalli and Prathuru areas of Mangalagiri told Lokesh that their lands have been severely damaged in the recent floods. They appealed for compensation for crop damage.

R. Saikumari of Tadepalli said she is facing severe financial difficulties as the business she started under the rule of YSRC government has failed. Manikyala Sai from Kaja said she has done computer science engineering and wants a job. Hemadri Srinivasa Rao of Vijayawada said his brothers have occupied his house even though it is registered in his name at Sitanagaram in Tadepalli mandal. His brothers are threatening and warning him to stay away.

Representatives of Government Contract Nurses Welfare Association appealed to the minister to regularise their jobs in the teaching hospitals of the state. 87 home guards from Chittoor complained that they had been dismissed from their jobs by the then officials on the orders of YSRC leaders. They requested Lokesh to restore their jobs.

The minister received requests from all those present. He assured that he will forward them to departments concerned and take steps to solve them.
