Anantapur: Anantapur hosted the first-ever “Lung Talks” conference in the Rayalaseema region on Sunday, aimed at raising awareness about lung health among medical professionals. The event, organised by KIMS Hospitals Kondapur and KIMS Saveera Anantapur, was inaugurated by Anantapur district collector Dr. Vinod Kumar, who lit the ceremonial lamp.
The one-day conference attracted a large audience of doctors, medical students and postgraduates from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, offering them insights into lung-related health issues. Key topics discussed included the diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex pulmonary conditions such as Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), Tuberculosis (TB), and lung cancer.
Sessions also included practical demonstrations on advanced medical techniques, such as flexible and rigid bronchoscopy, Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), cryotherapy, thoracoscopy, and ventilator settings. Experts also discussed the use of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) for severe lung conditions.
The conference highlighted the importance of accessible, state-of-the-art healthcare facilities in Rayalaseema, particularly in Anantapur, to improve local access to lung health care. KIMS Hospitals' CMD Dr. Bollineni Bhaskar Rao, along with KIMS Saveera Hospitals MD Mr. S.V. Kishore Reddy, emphasised the need for increased awareness and expertise in treating lung diseases.
