Female Aghori holds protest on NH in Mangalagiri

Vijayawada:Tension prevailed in the town on Monday as a female Aghori Naga Sadhu sat in protest on the Chennai-Vijayawada National Highway in Mangalagiri area, leading to traffic jam for a brief period.

An attempt by a scribe to film the Aghori, who came for a car wash at a service station, was the provocation.

“The Aghori attacked the scribe with a stick, inflicting injuries on his leg. After this, she sat in protest on the NH. This caused a traffic jam and severe inconvenience to commuters,” the Mangalagiri police told Deccan Chronicle.

A police team rushed to the spot and tried to take the Aghori into custody. She attempted to attack the police. The reasons for the Aghori's visit to Mangalagiri are being investigated,” the police said.

Some reports said the woman, who campaigns for Sanatana Dharma, is currently visiting temples in Andhra Pradesh. “The acquaintances of the Aghori came from Hyderabad and took her along with them,” the police added.
