Vijayawada: Five boys including two minors aged 16 years were arrested on charges of gangrape of a minor girl at Garuvupalem village of Nizampatnam mandal in Bapatla district on Saturday.

According to the Repalle police, a 16-year-old girl hailing from Peravali village of Vemuru mandal in Bapatla district, arrived at her grandmother’s house at Garuvupalem village.

As she was reportedly acquainted with all the five boys at her home village, she reportedly called them to her grandmother’s village where she was staying. On Friday night, she along with the boys went for an outing in the village. The boys allegedly gang raped her in the night in the fields.
As the girl failed to return home even late at night, her family members were tense. However, she came home and informed them about the incident.

Based on a complaint lodged by her, the police booked a case under the relevant provisions of the Pocso Act and nabbed the culprits. The victim girl was sent to the government hospital at Tenali for examination.
