Five Goldsmiths Arrested for Vizianagaram Robbery

 Visakhapatnam: A group of five men, including three goldsmiths, have been arrested in connection with a daring robbery that occurred in Vizianagaram district. The incident took place on August 21, 2024, when two victims, Dilwar Hussain Malik and his employer, Sheikh Nazir, were ambushed near Appannavalasa village while returning from Vizianagaram town.

The attackers, riding a motorcycle, sprayed pepper spray into the eyes of Malik and Nazir, rendering them temporarily helpless. They then demanded the victims' valuables, threatening them with violence. When the victims claimed they had nothing to give, one of the assailants fired a warning shot, injuring Malik's hands. The robbers subsequently stole two mobile phones and Rs 2,800 in cash before fleeing the scene.

Following a meticulous investigation, police apprehended Mubarak Mollah, Abbir Hussain Mollah, and Safiruddin Ghazi, all of whom are goldsmiths. The trio allegedly conspired to rob Nazir, who was transporting gold ornaments to be hallmarked in Vizianagaram. To carry out their plan, they recruited two accomplices, Bappi and Rahim, from West Bengal.The Garividi police have recovered the motorcycle used in the robbery and are actively pursuing Bappi and Rahim, who remain at large.
