Kurnool: Ganesh idol immersions were celebrated with grandeur in Kurnool and Nandyal districts on Wednesday. Vibrant celebrations took place in Allagadda (Nandyal district) and Yemmiganur and Adoni (Kurnool district).

In Adoni, where the Muslim and Hindu populations are nearly equal, approximately 800 security personnel, including special teams, were deployed. Nandyal town was similarly secured with 850 police officers. Over 1,500 idols were installed and worshipped across major towns in the former Kurnool district over the past five days.

Kurnool superintendent of police (SP) Bindu Madhav oversaw the immersion arrangements, which included medical camps, rafts for swimmers, and meticulous traffic management.

Adoni MLA Dr. V. Partha Sarathi and former TDP MLA K. Meenakshi Naidu were among those participating in the festivities.

In Nandyal, law and minority welfare minister N. M. D. Farooq, district collector G. Raja Kumari, and superintendent of police (SP) Adhiraj Singh Rana initiated the immersion activities, which proceeded peacefully. In Sunnipenta, Ganesh idols were immersed in the Krishna River amidst lively celebrations, with devotees dancing and playing drums. Srisailam One Town circle inspector P. Prasad Rao organised significant security measures to support the event.
