Gang of gold thieves arrested in Srikakulam

Visakhaptnam: The Sarubujjili Police of Srikakulam district have arrested three individuals linked to a series of thefts involving gold and silver ornaments. The accused, identified as Pinninti Santhosh (27), Ragolu Rambabu (49), and Gattima Anandh (25), were apprehended while attempting to sell stolen property in Parlakimidi, Odisha. Their arrest led to the recovery of 367 grams (31½ tolas) of gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs. 33,03,000.

The investigation revealed that the trio was involved in at least 15 thefts across various police jurisdictions in Srikakulam district. The stolen items included a total of 56½ tolas of gold (658 grams) and 44 tolas of silver (512 grams).

During a press conference held on Saturday, the Srikakulam SP , KV Maheshwara Reddy briefed the media that the criminals had a methodical approach to their crimes. They would rent a car at night, strategically park it a kilometre away, and then proceed to target unsuspecting victims. Their modus operandi included snatching gold ornaments from sleeping women and breaking into locked houses to steal valuables. The District SP commended the team for their work and said three more suspects are still at large, and investigations are continuing.
