Government starts robotics, software in 12 schools
Kakinada:Education department has introduced RISE scheme in 12 schools of Kakinada district, including Zilla Parishad High School at Bendapudi, under which technical training is being imparted to students of Class VI to X in areas like robotics, engineering, software computing, mathematics and science.
There are Atal Tinkering Laboratories in 49 schools in Kakinada district. Depending on how the RISE scheme is implemented in the 12 schools, technical training in robotics and so on will be introduced in other schools also.
District Science Centre officer M. Srinivas Vineel told Deccan Chronicle that a start-up company – Star Fetch Innovations – has come forward to impart such technical training to students. Company representatives will give training on these areas once a week and four full days in a month during December, January and February.
Sinivas said training will also be given to teachers along with students, so that students can clarify their doubts, if any, from their teachers.
Niti Ayog has sanctioned ₹20 lakh for Atal Tinkering Laboratories. In the first phase, ₹10 lakh are being released. The remaining amount will be released for five years at the rate of ₹2 lakh per year.
District collector Shanmohan Sagili said he is satisfied with how Star Fetch Innovations is carrying out the training. He said he is paying special attention to the scheme, so that government school students could compete with their counterparts in corporate schools.
