Vijayawada:G.V. Reddy has on Friday taken charge as the new chairman of AP State Fibernet Limited (APSFL) in Vijayawada. Speaking on the occasion, he said he will strive to enhance the current six lakh APSFL connections to 50 lakh over the next two years and provide better services to customers.

Reddy thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, education minister Nara Lokesh and BJP state chief D. Purandeswari for his appointment as the APSFL chairman.

He underlined that APSFL will provide internet facilities on par with private operators, more so in rural areas, where there is a growing demand for internet services, given the work-from-home trend.

The new chairman recalled that APSFL had received good patronage between 2014 and 2019. However, its internet connections declined in the last five years due to the previous YSRC government's negligence in providing quality services to the people through APSFL.

He said he will comment on the irregularities committed by the previous YSRC government in APSFL after studying and collecting substantial evidence.

Roads and buildings minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy and MLC Julakanti Brahmananda Reddy were present when G.V. Reddy took charge as the APSFL chairman.
