Visakhapatnam: GVMC stops construction of high-end apartments at Siripuram junction being developed by HRR Constructions Ltd owned by former Vizag MP MVV Satyanarayana. The GVMC commissioner, who issued stop work orders, said local residents complained that blasting of rocks was causing dust and noise pollution and also damaging buildings nearby.

The commissioner said this action was taken following the representation from the Siripuram Area Residents Welfare Association, represented by its president JM Naidu and marginal instructions of higher authorities

The order said there was a continuous massive drilling using explosives to blast rocks at a site belonging to HRR Constructions Pvt. Ltd and 17 Others, in town survey no 75-3 part of Waltair ward, Visakhapatnam.

During the course of inspection by town planning staff, it was brought to the notice of the GVMC that continuous massive drilling using explosives to blast rocks at the site was creating noise and dust pollution to neighbours, exposing their building to damage and the residents to physical injuries, which might cause casualties.

The order sought explanation from the builders and also asked them to provide hoard or fencing to the full height to prevent pollution and falling of rocks.

Earlier, deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan visited the site and asked people not to buy flats from this disputed venture. Pawan was also serious after the Tycoon Junction was closed for this venture. the junction was opened the day the election results were announced.

The former MP said he had replied to the GVMC stating that the work that was causing dust and noise pollution, has been completed.

``We have also erected barricades as per the system. We will wait and see what decision the GVMC takes,’’ Satyanarayana told this correspondent.
