VISAKHAPATNAM: A large number of people participated in the Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra along the Beach Road in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday morning. The yatra is part of a programme that began on August 9 to evoke nationalism and honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
Inaugurating the Tiranga yatra, district collector Harendhira Prasad emphasised on the necessity to commemorate the sacrifices of those who fought for India's independence.
"These extraordinary people toiled tirelessly and made enormous sacrifices for our freedom. We must be inspired by their dedication and build our country as their legacy," the collector stated.
The day's activities included Har Ghar Mela organised by UCD, ICDS and self-help societies. The programme concluded with a call to people to participate in social service activities and collaborate with each other for the benefit of the society. It underlined that every individual plays a role in advancement of the country.
