Home Minister Anitha Probes Corruption Allegations at Vizag Jail

Visakhapatnam:Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha made a surprise visit to the Visakhapatnam central jail on Monday as part of an inquiry into the facility’s infrastructure and the ongoing allegations against its officers including corruption.

“An investigation is underway regarding these allegations, and we expect to receive a detailed report in two days,” she said, adding that prompt action will be taken based on the findings.

She also took the opportunity to address comments made by YSRC MP Vijayasai Reddy. “Vijayasai Reddy is speaking without understanding the gravity of the situation. His criticisms are unfounded and politically motivated. We will definitely register cases against him for his baseless allegations,” she said.

“If police officers are found to be acting arbitrarily or under political pressure, we will take immediate action,” she added.
