Home Minister Opens New Arilova Police Station
Visakhapatnam: Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha inaugurated the newly constructed Arilova police station, apart from the Road Traffic Accident Victims Assistance Centre (RTAVAC), in Visakhapatnam city on Saturday.
Addressing media on the occasion, she pointed out that the foundation stone for constructing a new building for the Arilova police station had been laid in 2018 by then home minister Chinnarajappa. But the previous YSRC government did not follow up on completing its construction.
The home minister said establishing of the RTAVAC will provide crucial support to victims of road accidents. A toll-free helpline 7995095793 has been set up for the purpose. She underlined that changes are required in insurance policies, so that road accident victims are attended to promptly.
Anitha spoke about various issues concerning law enforcement and public safety, including smuggling of rice and land encroachments by local political leaders. She said measures are being taken to enhance police surveillance through installation of additional CCTV cameras and introducing body cameras.
The home minister thanked Divis Laboratories for making furniture available at the new police station. She called on citizens to cooperate with police in ensuring law and order within the state.
