 Visakhapatnam: Continuing their support for the Civil Administration in flood-affected regions of Andhra Pradesh, a joint operation on Wednesday involved 10 helicopters from the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy conducting relief and rescue missions. These helicopters delivered approximately 58,000 kilograms of food, water, and medical supplies to rooftops in inundated areas.

The Flood Relief Teams and aerial assets of the Indian Armed Forces are dedicated to assisting civil authorities, ensuring comprehensive disaster relief efforts. The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) in Visakhapatnam has deployed naval aircraft and flood relief teams to enhance humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations in response to requests from the local administration due to severe flooding caused by continuous rainfall.

As part of these efforts, four helicopters (two ALH and two Chetak) along with one Dornier aircraft have been engaged in search and rescue operations. So far, 22 stranded individuals have been rescued, and over 1,000 kilograms of food supplies have been air-dropped for those in need. Additionally, 10 Flood Relief Teams have been mobilised to support the rescue initiatives.
