Visakhapatnam: Acharya K.S. Chalam, a former UPSC member and former Vice-Chancellor, emphasised the economic implications of international conflicts during his address as the chief guest at a conference at Civic Library, Dwarka Nagar. The event marked the 67th anniversary of the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) and focused on the impact of wars in neighbouring countries on India.
Acharya Chalam stressed the importance of India adhering to a non-aligned policy and fostering amicable relations with other nations. He highlighted the significant contribution of approximately 20 million Indians residing abroad, who account for about 4% of the national income. He also noted that many of these individuals, particularly labourers in Saudi Arabia and Dubai, come from lower-income brackets, underscoring the need to maintain positive relations with these countries.
