Kakani flays Naidu’s approach in AP-TG CMs meeting

TIRUPATI: Former minister and senior YSRC leader Kakani Govardhan Reddy has strongly criticised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s conduct during the recent meeting with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Speaking to the media at the YSRC office in Nellore on Sunday, Govardhan Reddy accused Naidu of tarnishing the state’s reputation and lacking sincerity in resolving bifurcation issues.
Reddy expressed concern that Telangana’s proposal to return submerged mandals of the Polavaram project could reignite old problems. He alleged that Naidu had neglected the Polavaram project, which is vital for Andhra Pradesh, during his initial years as CM after bifurcation.
The YSRC leader questioned why Naidu failed to address key issues like the division of assets under Schedules 9 and 10 of the AP Reorganisation Act, which are worth nearly Rs 1.5 lakh crore. He criticised the formation of multiple committees as a delaying tactic without any legal standing.
Kakani highlighted former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's efforts in securing Rs 7,000 crore in power dues from the Center. He contrasted this with Naidu's alleged inaction on resolving bifurcation-related issues despite being part of the NDA alliance.
The former minister also raised concerns about water project management, particularly the use of water from Srisailam Left Canal by Telangana for power generation at the expense of AP farmers. He questioned why these crucial issues were not discussed in the CM’s meeting.
Reddy accused Naidu of prioritising his public image over the state’s interests. He demanded answers on various points raised, including the lack of progress on special category status for AP and the alleged mishandling of drug-related issues.
The YSRC leader pledged that his party would continue to fight for the state’s interests under Jagan Mohan Reddy’s leadership, both in and out of government. He called on the state government to respond to the concerns raised and show genuine commitment to resolving bifurcation-related problems.
