Kakinada: Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) has cracked the whip against unauthorised layouts in the city. It has issued a notification, giving details with survey numbers, cautioning people against buying plots or sites in these survey numbers.

KMC has warned that it will not provide in such layouts any basic infrastructure facilities, like roads, drainages, power, water and other facilities.

The corporation has identified six unauthorised layouts along Rajendranagar-Kotha Gaigolupadu near Ramanayyapeta, Ramnagar, R.R. Nagar, Suryapet, Rajeswari Nagar, Pallamraju Nagar, Suryaraopeta and Soujanya Nagar.

Some of the real estate and land owners had previously sold their lands by dividing them into plots and sites without taking permission from the authorities concerned. Some of such buyers constructed their houses while others sold their plots to others.

KMC deputy city planner K. Haridas has asked people not to buy sites or plots for housing or other purposes in unauthorised layouts. They should check from officials whether or not the layouts are approved. They must invest their money only if the plots have been approved by the corporation.

The KMC official cautioned that if people purchase sites in unauthorised layouts, they would face problems when they approach government authorities for constructing anything on their property.

The unauthorised plot owners will have to pay 14 per cent tax on the government book value to the KMC. Further, the house tax levied will be double than that charged for authorised layouts.

Haridas said stringent action will be taken against developers who are selling unauthorised sites.

Incidentally, the present government has instructed civic bodies and local authorities to conduct surveys and take action against unauthorised layouts.
