 Kurnool: Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) commissioner P.V. Ramalingeshwar stressed the need for maintaining high sanitation standards to protect public health given the continuous rains. On Wednesday, he inspected sanitation works in Kanderi Street, Saibabanagar and Kothapeta areas and directed roads to be kept clean and waste in drainage canals removed promptly.

Although 100 workers, four inspectors and 16 secretaries from the city’s Public Health Department were dispatched to Vijayawada for flood relief, the commissioner has made alternative arrangements.

The commissioner also directed draining the rainwater from low-lying areas promptly. Amenities secretaries of ward secretariats are overseeing efforts to keep drinking water uncontaminated, especially at pipeline crossings and other critical points.

KMC health officer Dr Vishweshwar Reddy, sanitation supervisor Nagaraju and inspector Lokesh were present during the inspection.
