Kuwait inferno: Bodies of 3 AP labourers handed over to kin

Vijayawada: The mortal remains of three migrant labourers from Andhra Pradesh who were killed in the building inferno in Kuwait that were flown back to India on June 14 have been handed over to their families on June 15.

The mortal remains of Thamada Lokanadham, Molleti Satyanarayana and Meesala Eeswarudu reached their native places in Srikakulam and East Godavari districts on Saturday afternoon. Officials of the respective district administrations handed over the remains to the victims’ families along with compensation cheques of Rs 5 lakh each as announced by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

The mortal remains of the deceased migrants reached New Delhi on June 14 evening in a special Air Force flight via Kochi. From New Delhi, the remains have been transported to Visakhapatnam via Hyderabad in an Indigo flight.

Flight carrying the mortal remains reached Visakhapatnam at 7:00 am on June 15. Ambulances were kept ready at the airport for onward transportation to the native places of the deceased.
