Tirupati: The mystery behind the sudden death of a government teacher in Madanapalle town of Annamayya district has been solved with the police investigations showing it was a case of patricide.

Evidence showed that his daughter Haritha killed Doraiswamy, 61, as he objected to her love affair, and she has been taken into custody for interrogation, police sources said on Friday.

Doraswamy was a school teacher in Diguvakuravanka. He was found dead at his Eguvakuravanka house on Thursday morning. Police concluded that Haritha used a wooden rolling pin, commonly used to prepare chapatis, to hit and kill her father when he was deep asleep.

Locals allege that Haritha's relationship with a young man and her father's disapproval of it could be the motive behind the murder. They say Haritha gave the young man a large sum of money. Meanwhile, Doraswamy reprimanded his daughter over her love affair and started searching for a suitable match for her.

"Doraswamy confronted the young man about the money his daughter had given him and reportedly hauled the man to the police station, where he was warned and released," revealed a police official.

Police have seized the suspected murder weapon and taken Haritha into custody for questioning. "We are exploring all angles, including the possibility of a conspiracy," said DSP Prasad Reddy.
