Low-Pressure Area Over Bay of Bengal, IMD Warns of Heavy Rains in AP

Visakhapatnam:The upper air cyclonic circulation over the Equatorial Indian Ocean off the Sumatra coast and adjoining South Andaman Sea has moved west-northwestwards and now lies over the east Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining South Andaman Sea, extending up to mid-tropospheric levels. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over southeast Bay of Bengal on Saturday.

Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over central parts of the south Bay of Bengal during the subsequent two days, said IMD Amaravathi, in its forecast on Friday.

The report said under the influence of the system, heavy rains are likely at isolated places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema from November 26 to November 28.
