Low pressure area to intensify into depression, rains to continue

Under its influence, heavy rainfall will continue over north coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on Saturday (September 7) and heavy to very heavy rain likely at isolated places in north coastal districts on Sunday and Monday (September 8 and September 9). Visakhapatnam: The low-pressure area over west central and adjoining Bay of Bengal lay over central adjoining north Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move slowly nearly northwards and intensify into depression over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal, north Odisha, and Bangladesh coasts on September 9.

Thereafter, it is likely to move west north westwards across Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha, Jharkhand and adjoining north Chhattisgarh during subsequent three to four days.

The IMD said parts of the ASR, Parvathipuram Manyam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam district experienced heavy rainfall on Friday while few parts of the Rayalaseema region received light to moderate rainfall. During the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Friday, Jiyyamma Valasa (Parvathipram Manyam district) received 7.4Anakapalle (Anakapalle district) 6.9 cms, Gajapathinagaram (Vizianagaram district) 6.2 cms, Macherla (Palnadu district ) 6.1 cms, Tekkali (Srikakulam dsirict) 5.7, Vizianagaram 5.3 cms, Cheepurupalle (Vizianagaram district) 5 cms and Visakhapatnam Airport 4.5 cms.
