Low Pressure in Bay, Heavy Rains for N. Andhra

Visakhapatnam: A fresh low pressure area is likely to form over the East central and adjoining North Bay of Bengal on August 29. Lower tropospheric south westerly winds prevailed over AP and Yanam, stated IMD, Amaravati on Monday.

IMD director Stella S said the system would not have any impact on the state but it might cause heavy rainfall for north coastal AP on August 30 and August 31. Thunderstorms, accompanied with lightning, are likely at isolated places over north coastal AP and Yanam.

Meanwhile, heavy rains battered Visakhapatnam City and the airport area. Chodavaram in Anakapalle district received the highest rainfall of 7.2cm, followed by Visakhapatnam city with 4.7cm and Visakhapatnam Airport area 3.9cm.

The rest of north coastal Andhra and parts of Rayalaseema received one to two cm of rainfall on Monday. The sky was overcast the entire day, bringing down the day temperature.
