Visakhapatnam: A cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a low-pressure system by Sunday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) report on Saturday. The system, currently extending up to 3.6 km above mean sea level, is forecast to move westward toward Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka coasts over the next two days.

The weather pattern is expected to bring significant changes to South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema regions, with a series of weather events forecast over the next five days. While Saturday remained dry across Andhra Pradesh with stable temperatures, conditions are expected to deteriorate from Sunday onwards.

According to the India Meteorological Department's forecast, isolated areas can expect initial thunderstorms accompanied by lightning on November 10. The weather system is then predicted to intensify, with heavy rainfall forecasted from November 11 through November 13. During this three-day period, both the South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema regions are likely to experience heavy precipitation in isolated places, along with thunderstorms and lightning activity.

The meteorological department noted that the current system includes a trough extending from the cyclonic circulation to the east-central Bay of Bengal at mid-tropospheric levels. Recent weather patterns have already shown some activity, with rainfall recorded at one or two places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema.
