Vijayawada: A court in Macherla granted two days of police custody to former MLA from Macherla Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy here on Friday.

The court issued directions for conduct of inquiry of the former MLA from July 8 to 9 by a DSP or CI rank officer and on the premises of Nellore Central Jail in the presence of lawyers from the former MLA and under electronic surveillance.
As the former MLA was booked on charges of assault on a CI at Karempudi and attempt to murder of a man at a polling station at Palvai Gate, the police sought the court to grant custody for four days to conduct an inquiry. However, the court granted one day each for police custody in two cases.
