Minister assures to make quality brands of liquor available in AP

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Kollu Ravindra said then TD government in 2014-19 ensured top class quality brands of liquor from the country to be available in the state while the YSR Congress government in 2019 made the liquor business as a source of income and even raised loans by mortgaging income from the liquor.

VIJAYAWADA: Minister for excise Kollu Ravindra said efforts will be taken to ensure availability of quality brands of liquor in the upcoming liquor policy in the state.

A delegation of representatives of liquor manufacturing companies called on the minister here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said then TD government in 2014-19 ensured top class quality brands of liquor from the country to be available in the state while the YSR Congress government in 2019 made the liquor business as a source of income and even raised loans by mortgaging income from the liquor.

He alleged that the previous government knocked away the sale proceeds from the liquor for welfare schemes and turned critical against it for failing to implement digital payment at liquor outlets.

The minister said they were making efforts to come up with new excise policy from October 1 onwards in the state.
