Vijayawada:  Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday directed officials of various departments to take advantage of drones to serve their needs as applicable.

His suggestion came after he witnessed at the state secretariat demonstration of multi-purpose drones manufactured by a Bengaluru-based company.
On the occasion, the CM pointed out that drones can be used to deliver medicines to people in regions where transportation facilities are unavailable, such as in agency areas. They can be used to improve sanitation in villages and municipalities, for example spraying insecticides for mosquito control. Drones can monitor forest fires and other disasters, facilitating necessary action.
Chandrababu Naidu emphasised that drones in fact could be widely utilised across all government departments.
Explaining advantages of their drones, the Bengaluru company officials said these could be used to assess the number of vehicles in traffic-congested areas and identify the necessary actions to be taken. They can detect security flaws in real time. Drones could further be used to make public announcements in crowded areas, the company representatives stated.
Others who attended the demonstration of drones included municipal administration and urban development minister P. Narayana, MSMEs minister Kondapalli Srinivas, PS to CM P. Pradyumna, investments and infrastructure secretary S. Suresh Kumar, and AP Drone Corporation chairman and managing director K. Dinesh Kumar.
