VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu felicitated eminent irrigation expert and retired officer Kannayya Naidu with a shawl and a memento at the Secretariat in Velagapudi on Wednesday, recognising his efforts in the installation of 19th gate of the Tungabhadra reservoir.

Kannayya Naidu had successfully installed a stoplock gate at Tungabhadra reservoir with the cooperation of the AP and Karnataka officials at a time when the flood flow was raging. With this, about 30 TMC ft of water was prevented from going waste.

The CM thanked Kannayya Naidu on behalf of the farmers of the state. Water resources minister Nimmala Ramanaidu and others participated in the programme.
