CM Naidu inspects flood damage, coordinates relief efforts

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has monitored the flood situation and also the relief and rescue operation by visiting several areas in person even by traveling in a boat with NDRF/SDRF personnel to the flood hit areas in the city to assure all requisite help to the victims and to instill confidence among them from the early hours on Monday.

The CM visited the Singh Nagar which was hit by the floods due to overflowing of Budameru stream by a boat in the wee hours and inquired about their trouble and tried to comfort them as they were looking for their family members to reach home safely.

He inspected the flood situation at Krishna Lanka, Ibrahimpatnam, Ferry Point, Jupudi and Mulapadu areas where the flood water entered the houses. Witnessing the presence of the VVIP, the flood hit people rushed to him and deplored their plight before the CM. The CM announced that all the affected people were being supplied with food and potable water and asked them to contact the toll free number 112 or 1070 in case they face trouble.

He said, “I appeal to you all not to get worried and lose your courage. I will be here to extend all support to you and will stay put until I solve your problems.” Meanwhile, power boats have arrived to the city from different states and they are being used to supply food, to evacuate the marooned people from their flooded houses to the rehabilitation centres and for other relief works.
Later in the day, the CM reviewed the situation in the flood hit areas and also the overflowing Budameru stream with the ministers and the senior officials and inquired about the relief being provided through choppers and asked for supply of food. He asked for providing dresses to the flood victims being shifted to the rehabilitation centres, arranging power banks for charging of mobile phones and to avoid any disruption in the communication service. He directed the officials to distribute fruits to the victims also and to keep adequate stocks of vegetables to last for two to three days. He directed the officials to be prepared to deal with the flood situation to provide relief in the next two to three days.

The CM inspected Krishna Lanka, Jakkampudi and other areas and also the flood situation towards the lower side of Prakasam barrage and inquired about the problems being faced by the people in the low-lying areas.
