Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu greeted the people of Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of Sankranti, wishing their lives to be filled with contentment and happiness.

The Chief Minister, who celebrated the festival in his native village Naravaripalle, Chandragiri mandal, Tirupati district, urged people to uphold the traditions established by their elders while adapting to modernisation. He expressed hope that villages would flourish further by preserving cultural values. Naidu also conveyed Sankranti greetings to Governor S. Abdul Nazeer through a phone call from Naravaripalle.

Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan extended festive wishes to all Indians, emphasising the vibrancy brought by city dwellers returning to their native villages for the celebrations. Highlighting cultural aspects such as Rangavallulu, Gobbemmalu, Gangireddulu, Haridasulu, Bhogi Mantalu, and Pindi Vantalu, Kalyan said these elements reflect the festival’s spirit.

He pointed out that migration to cities for employment had reduced rural populations, but the return of villagers for Sankranti rejuvenates these areas. He added that the prosperity of villages directly impacts the nation’s growth and wished the people of both Telugu states happiness and prosperity.

Housing minister Kolusu Parthasarathi also conveyed his Sankranti greetings. He called for public support for Chief Minister Naidu’s vision of making Amaravati the country’s leading capital city with assistance from the World Bank. Parthasarathi credited Naidu’s leadership and hard work in driving the state’s development for the benefit of its people.
